These are all of the animals in our care currently. If you see a cutie that you're interested in, please contact us to set up a time to meet them!
*Please note that all of our rescues have a small adoption fee to help cover medical expenses. Adoption fees are determined based on the medical expenses incurred for a pet's treatment and the temperament of the pet.*
Adoptable Pets
Music was found in a parking lot as me and my husband were leaving dinner. He ran right up to us, meowed, and rubbed against our legs. He was so hungry and asking for help, so we knew we couldn't leave him. Turns out he's the biggest cuddle bug to ever live! All he wants is to snuggle and smush his face against his person's to be as close as possible! We believe Music is close to a year old, as he is still on the smaller side but appears full grown.
Due to being on the street for a little while, and having to fight for resources, Music is a little wary of other cats and dogs. He can also be protective of the resources he does have with other animals. Music would need a home to himself or with another calm cat that would give him time to warm up and learn to share.
He is fixed, triple tested, vaccinated and ready for a new home! Adoption fee is 80$
Tigger is a sweet old soul that was surrendered to a local animal shelter, along with his sister, at the ripe age of 15 years old. While his sister was adopted, Tigger waited for weeks before a shelter volunteer reached out for help.
Tigger is a very people friendly cat that just needs time to adjust to new environments. He can be fearful and hide at first in a new place, but he comes around quickly. He seems to have no issues with other cats once he's settled in, but we have not tested him with dogs yet. He is great at using the litter box. He prefers wet food, but he will nibble at hard food as well. Overall, he's a great little guy who just wants to relax and be loved on by his person.
No senior pet deserves to spend their remaining time in a cold, loud, scary shelter. We were happy to rescue Tigger from that fate, but we cannot rescue more without Tigger finding his forever home!
Tigger is fixed, triple tested, and will be vaccinated before going to his new home. Adoption fee is 80$
Medical and Special Needs Pets
Found as a neglected stray in Mobile, Hughie ended up at the shelter at 15 years old. He is a daschund/chi mix and weighs around 13 lbs.
Unfortunately, his skin was in terrible condition, with rotten teeth and infections all over. Hughie was also covered in fleas and tested heartworm positive. While we will never know where he came from, we do know that, for a very long time, he was not being cared for properly. He was fearful of touch at first and had clearly been on his own awhile.
Thankfully, he quickly came around thanks to his amazing foster, Lori Howell. She taught him how to enjoy being pet, how to love being loved, and how to be a normal little dog. He is still a super senior, so we will not be neutering him or putting him through fast kill heartworm treatment. Hughie will need to be given heartworm prevention every month to manage his heartworms.
Hughie is, however, fully vaccinated and dewormed! His adoption fee is 80$.
Shermie was found in the streets of Forest, MS in very bad shape. He was taken to a local vet clinic to be euthanized, but a rescuer stepped up to try and find him help. However, help didn't come for 8 months. When I heard his story, I hurried to get him into our care and to our vet. It didn't take long for me to realize he had a lot more going on than I knew.
Shermie is a senior, who is FIV+ and blind. He spends most of his day walking in circles, only stopping to use the bathroom, eat, and receive pets. He is not using the litter box due to this circling behavior. Although our vet has treated him for inner ear infections, and he was given calming treats for several days, we have yet to figure out the cause of the circling. My best guess is that Shermie was recently blinded before being picked up and taken to the vet clinic. Then, he learned how to be blind in a small kennel at the clinic. But we cannot rule out neurological issues.
Despite this, Shermie eats very well, both hard and soft food. He is loving and spunky. He doesn't always know the difference between a toy and a hand, so you have to show him the difference. He's very interested in other cats, though he is only interacting through his play pen bars.
Shermie needs an experienced foster or adopter to help him with his medical/behavioral needs. He is fixed, vaccinated, and triple tested.
Pets in Forever Foster
Don't let this mean looking face fool you! Chatter is actually a super sweet butterball.
Chatter is a senior kitty whose world was forever changed recently when his former mom passed away. She had cared for Chatter his whole life, all 14 years, and he had never known anything different. He is a little shy at first, but he does come around quickly! He's friendly and likes to be pet, and he has been very well behaved at the vet. The mean look is due to an old injury above his right eye that makes it look menacing. And his name is definitely appropriate, because he does like to talk to you!
Despite being an only cat in the past, Chatter has reluctantly accepted the friendship of another senior boy in our care, Rocky. His tolerance for Rocky quickly grew to affection when they both became ill together. With them both being seniors, and having lost their moms, we couldn't bare the thought of separating. So we sought out a forever foster home for the both of them.
Chatter is with his best buddy, Rocky, at the home of the amazing Rachel Hernandez.
Rocky came from the same home as our sweet boy, Shadow. Unfortunately, Rocky had recently tested positive for FIV before he came into our care. He is also 17 years old at this point. For these reasons, we sought out a forever foster for Rocky, rather than an adopter.
Rocky is a funny, sweet, and adventurous cat. He was friendly right out of the gate, even after losing the only mom he'd ever known. It was obvious from the beginning that he had an affection for other cats, and he chose Chatter to be his object of affection after his sister passed away. Chatter was reluctant at first, but then the two of them became peas in a pod!
FIV is by no means a death sentence. It is difficult to transfer to other cats because it must enter the blood through deep bite wounds. Rocky is a friendly boy, who wouldn't dream of hurting another cat, so he is not a risk to other cats. However, because of his age, we aimed to find a forever foster so that we could continue supporting him.
Rocky is now with his best buddy, Chatter, at the home of the amazing Rachel Hernandez.
Shadow is a sweet, 4-year-old boy that came from the same house as Bee and Rocky. His mom and rescuer unfortunately passed away, leaving behind 25 confused babies wondering where she went.
It took two months for Shadow to begin warming up to us. He has become Bee's best friend and rock in our unfamiliar home. Thankfully, he has come fully around to trust us and love us in his own way. We hope Bee will follow in his footsteps with time.
Due to Shadow's submissive and fearful nature, he is currently a foster only. We plan to keep him and Bee together so that neither of them lose their "emotional support" buddy. We are open to them being fostered together, or adopted together, but until that can happen, they will stay together with us!
Shadow is fixed and vaccinated.
Originally named Honey Bee, I knew from day one that this boy needed a more appropriate name. There was nothing "honey" or sweet about him except his chunky little face.
The brave and bold Melanie Bosarge was the first to attempt his capture, and he was quick to lash out in defense. Even after suffering a terrible wound, Melanie refused to give up! We worked together to get our boy into a carrier and straight to the vet.
Bee came from a house of 24 other cats. Their mom had passed away recently, leaving them all in limbo. Bee was especially left out in the cold, due to him being the most recent rescue. He had never had time to bond with anyone, and he was also suffering with a broken leg while in the home. The rescuer was unable to get him taken care of before her passing, so he hopped around the laundry room until we arrived two months later to remove them all.
I can't imagine the pain he must have been in, and the confusion he felt, so it's no wonder he was quite the spicy little fella. Thankfully, our vet was able to amputate the broken leg and get him comfortable again. Unable to hunt or defend himself, we knew we couldn't allow Bee to be an outside cat or barn cat, despite being totally feral.
So, Spicy Bee stays in the cat room. He will stay in there for as long as it takes for him to become friendly and adoptable or pass of old age. Already, in the months I've had him, he's made great strides in becoming less afraid of me. He now allows my husband and I to pet him gently. :)
Bee is fixed, vaccinated, and triple tested.
